Puggy Pearson – 1929-2006. World Series of Poker Champion and Poker Hall of Famer Puggy Pearson died yesterday. You can find all the info on various poker websites like www.cardplayer.com if you like. I never met Mr. Pearson, so have no personal connection to his passing, except for the awakening it brings me of that nagging voice in the back of my head. You see, my dad was also born in 1929, and the rock that was his health has taken a couple of hits this year. Both men had momentous years in 1973, Pearson won the WSOP Main Event championship (probably wasn’t even considered the main event back then, it may well have been the only tournament in the World Series for all I know), and my dad had his fourth and most handsome child. Me, of course.
I’ll be back with some poker postings later, when I can remember how to play this silly game. For right now I’m still on a losing streak, so feel free to search me out online and join the hordes relieving me of my cash. It can’t last forever, so get it while the getting is good.
Good rest, Puggy. Good Game.
